ISLAMABAD: The Danish government has signed an agreement with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) to assist Pakistani authorities and build capacity to meet the challenges as a result of irregular migration.

Under the partnership agreement signed on Wednesday, Denmark will provide funds worth 10 million krones to implement a comprehensive and coordinated response to combat Trafficking in Persons (TIP) and Smuggling of Migrants (SOM) in Pakistan.

The partnership agreement was signed by Ambassador of Denmark Lis Rosenholm and Chief of Mission of IOM Pakistan Mio Sato. In close partnership with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), the programme will implement a range of activities relating to prevention of TIP and SOM as well as ensure protection of victims of these organised crimes.

IOM Pakistan has closely aligned all project activities with the priorities of the FIA as outlined in its National Action Plan (2021-2025) to Combat TIP and SOM in Pakistan.
