GUJAR KHAN: A cell has been set up in Jhelum district police stations which will provide assistance to women facing domestic, sexual violence and harassment at the workspace.

Talking to Dawn, District Police Officer (DPO) Jhelum Shakir Hussain Dawar said special desks had been set up in all police stations of the district in which lady police officers will be available to guide, help, investigate and support the victims.

DPO Shakir said four desks had been set up in the cell — monitoring desk, victim assistance and feedback desk, victim support desk and investigations and prosecution desk -- to fully support the victims.

DPO said that Jhelum police is determined to provide protection to the women and help them in the legal procedures under the vision of IGP Punjab to protect women.

Women can help at 15 police helpline or at 0544-621020, the landline number of the newly established cell, or can visit the cell physically, DPO added.
