BAJAUR: The district administration on Sunday sealed nine marble factories and arrested their owners for operating the units without establishing septic tanks as per the government’s policy.

According to a statement, deputy commissioner Iftikhar Alam said the marble factories located in Sheikh Kallay area of Khar tehsil were sealed during a raid conducted by a team of the district administration and police officials led by Khar assistant commissioner Hamza Zahoor.

The statement said the marble units were operating without septic tanks for safe discharge of the utilised water to keep the environment clean.

The arrested people were shifted to the Lovi Sam police station.

The statement said the administration had issued several notices to the factories’ owners, directing them to set up septic tanks in their plants within a week, but to no avail.
