HARIPUR: A minor boy was assaulted here on Monday, the police said.

City police station officials quoted a man from Pandak village as saying that his eight-year-old son was playing in the street with a teenager, namely Abdullah. He said the boy enticed his son into accompanying him to nearby bushes where he assaulted him.

The complainant told the police that when the boy started crying, the accused managed to flee.

The police registered a case against the suspect under section 53 of the Child Protection Act and 377 of PPC, and started making efforts to arrest him.

STAY GRANTED: A civil court on Monday issued a stay order against any construction on a piece of land and directed the owner of a private housing society to appear before it on Sept 30.

Ilyas Khan Advocate, the counsel for Malik Mohammad Ashraf and others of Kamalpur village, said his clients along with some other people were the owners of 40.1 kanals of land from Khasra No 2,447 and 15.12 kanals from Khasra No 2,450, but Chaudhry Faisal Saleem, owner of a housing society, was allegedly trying to encroach upon their property.

Civil Judge 1 Sanam Sajjad barred the respondent from carrying out any construction or interfering in the said land for 14 days. The court also directed its bailiff to inspect the land and prepare a site sketch and submit it before or on Sept 30.

Separately, a teenage girl committed suicide over unknown reasons in Padhana village, police said on Monday.

Khalabat Township police officials quoted family sources as saying that the deceased, 17, allegedly shot at and injured herself with a 30-bore pistol in her room. The family shifted the girl to the trauma centre where doctors pronounced her brought dead.
