QUETTA: Parliamentary Secretary for Health Dr Rubaba Khan Buledi has said that the medical equipment provided by the World Health Organisation (WHO) to the Bolan Medical Hospital will help improve services in the health sector.
Speaking at a ceremony held here on Wednesday for handing over the equipment to the Central Sterilisation Department of Bolan Medical College by the WHO, she said the hygiene of surgical instruments could be improved by the new machinery.
“Efforts are being made to provide medical services to the people and concrete reforms are being enforced in the health sector,” Dr Buledi said. “In the past, the Balochistan health sector was run as a mere payroll department. We strive to bring the quality and scope of medical services within the reach of the common man,” she said.
The parliamentary secretary said that a large portion of the revenue went to medical treatment. “If standard and reliable medical services are ensured in government hospitals, the extraordinary expenses incurred on the treatment of the poor can be saved for other social needs.”
