NAROWAL: Shakargarh police on Thursday arrested a suspect from Sargodha who had killed his wife with an axe over domestic disputes in Bherri Khurd village near Shakargarh tehsil four days back.
Kabir Ahmed had killed his wife, Asiya Bibi, and escaped.
Talking to the media, Deputy Superintendent of Police Malik Muhammad Khalil said Kabir had gone into hiding after committing the murder and the police had arrested him with the use of the latest technology. He said the suspect would turn on and off his mobile phone after gaps and police would get a new location whenever he turned his mobile phone on.
The DSP added that the suspect used to change the SIM card in his mobile phone too for making phone calls so that he would not be located. He said police had formed three teams to arrest the suspect and dispatched them to different locations.
Mr Khalil said police arrested Kabir from Sargodha district after 72 hours of continuous surveillance.
Kabir told police he had no siblings while his parents were no more. He said he used to have frequent quarrels with his wife due to unemployment and poverty. He said there was nothing to eat at home, his four children used to cry for food while his wife, Asiya, used to taunt him.
DSP Khalil said Kabir would be sent to jail after completing the investigation.
