Your safety is our prime concern

This is with reference to the cover story “Your safety is our prime concern” by Yasmin Elahi (YW, August 21). The article was impressive as it gave tips on how to be safe if we are outside our house.

Topics like this should be covered in the magazine every now and then so that kids are reminded about the potential dangers lurking outside and how one can take care of him or herself.

The cover article “Your safety is our prime concern” by Yasmin Elahi was fantastic. The writer brilliantly discussed some very important points, which all kids should keep in mind while going out.

I want to add one more thing that children should be given confidence at home to discuss anything with their elders. They shouldn’t be stopped from speaking their mind. Children should be encouraged to talk and be heard. Only then a child will feel confident enough to share his/her apprehensions about anything or anyone.

The good effects of reading books

This is with reference to the story, “The good effects of reading books” by Adeeba Khan (YW, August 28). I appreciate the writer for emphasising the importance of reading books. I like reading books and it is through reading that I have learnt a lot. I have gained knowledge of the world around me and have also built my language skills. My personality has also developed through reading books.

Books have the power to bring positive changes in a person’s life. Therefore, in my opinion, kids should develop the habit of reading books from a very young age to be an open-minded and educated person.

Each word in the story was full of feelings that a reader can literally feel. I would like to thank the writer and the YW for giving us the opportunity to read such a fantastic story.
