KARACHI: A quartet of horses are in contention for the Defence Day Cup during the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

The Defence Day Cup was earlier scheduled to take place last Sunday but the races were cancelled at the last moment due to rain in the city.

The Defence Day Cup which is the fourth race in order has been classified under scale order I, II and III and will go over five furlongs. The cup which is part of the annual calendar is also the day’s feature event.

The KRC has released a five-event card and all the races have been dedicated to war heroes.

The fifth and supporting race has five acceptors who will vie for honours over five furlongs.

Seven horses will face the starter in the opening race while nine horses apiece are drawn in the second and third races respectively.

The first race starts at 3:00pm.
