CHITRAL: Two boys committed suicide in different villages of Chitral on Sunday, the police said.
They added that both of the deceased were said to be suffering from mental illnesses.
An official of the Chitral city police station told Dawn that Amjad Alam, a teenager, was found hanging from a ceiling fan in one of the rooms of his house on Sunday morning.
In the second incident, a 9th class student identified as Arsalan jumped into the Chitral River in Kushum village of Upper Chitral district. The deceased’s parents said that he was suffering from a mental illness.
An official of Mulkhow police station said that the police were looking into the incident of suicide under section 157 of CrPC.
An official of Rescue 1122 said that body of the 9th grader was yet to be retrieved as the divers were facing difficulty because of high floods in the river due to the recent rainfall in the catchment areas.
