LAHORE: Factory Area police have arrested a drug peddler who was wanted in over 50 criminal cases.

Identified as Asif alias Asso Butt, the accused was also allegedly involved in armed attack on police and had established a ‘no go area” at Qainchi Amar Sidhu.

A police official claimed the accused and his relatives had been running the drug business in the area for the last many years.

He said his arrest had become a challenge as the police had conducted many raids but failed to arrest him because of resistance by him and his accomplices.

He said the accused also used to file complaints against police officials to blackmail them.

He said the Factory Area police finally managed to arrest him and recovered 3.406kg drugs from his possession.

Fazeelat Bibi told police that suspect Arslan Haider had been making calls on her mobile phone for the last many days.

On Sept 14, she alleged, he intercepted her when she was on her way back home and harassed her publicly.

The police lodged a case against the offender and arrested him on Thursday.
