KOHAT: The district administration has removed encroachments in front of shops here in the main bazaar and also fined the traders.

A team led by additional assistant commissioner-I Nisar Mohammad Khalil and comprising tehsil municipal administration’s enforcement officer Waqas Ahmed and superintendent Bashir Ahmed removed temporary encroachments, and also warned the traders of confiscating their goods in case they put items on footpaths and roads in future.

Separately, district development advisory committee chairman MPA Ziaullah Bangash has said during his visit to South Africa he had invited the Pakistani businessmen to invest in their own country.

Talking to mediapersons here, Mr Bangash said he was aware of the grievances of the people about delay in reconstruction of the Liaquat Memorial Hospital and lack of equipment such as MRI, CT Scan and facilities of neurosurgery and burns centre at the KDA Teaching Hospital. However, he insisted that two local MPAs of PPP and JUI-F had refused to contribute from their share of royalty bonus funds to the Rs100 million pool meant for purchase of hospital equipment and provision of other facilities there.

CADET COLLEGE SEATS: The Kohat Peace Council, a joint platform of some NGOs and social circles, has demanded reserved seats for the students of Kohat in Cadet College Kohat.

The council chairman Shah Mehmood also appealed to the lawmakers on Thursday for purchasing land for the engineering university campus and IT Park besides installation of CCTV cameras in certain areas.

He said that work on reconstruction of Liaquat Memorial Hospital had hit snags since its inauguration in 2018 whereas the patients had to go to Peshawar and private hospitals for MRI, CT Scan and other tests due to lack of facilities in the KDA hospital.
