Suspect shot dead, accomplice held in ‘encounter’ in Karachi

KARACHI: A suspected robber was shot dead while another was arrested after an ‘encounter’ in F.B Area on Thursday, said police.

Two armed robbers were looting a citizen near Riaz Autos. In the meantime, a police party reached there. On indication of the citizen, the police chased the fleeing robbers who resorted to firing.

The police returned fire as a result of which one suspect was shot dead on the spot while another was arrested in wounded condition, said Central SSP Malik Murtaza.

The officer added that the wounded suspect was arrested after a chase near Abdullah Centre.

The suspect who got killed was identified as Shaharyar, alias Sheri, while the wounded man was identified as Aqib Anwar.

The police claimed to have seized two TT and 30-bore pistols from them.

Body bundled in iron chest found

A man was found dead in an iron chest in F.B Industrial Area on Thursday, said police.

They added that the unidentified body of a youth aged around 22 years was recovered in an iron chest near Al-Makkah Hotel.

Area SHO Jamil Abbasi said that it appeared that someone had killed him and his body was thrown there in the box. Finding the box suspicious, when the police opened it, a partially decomposed body of a man was found in it.

The corpse was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors reserved the cause of death for histopathological and chemical examinations.

The DNA samples were taken for identification purpose. The police were treating it as a murder case.

Rangers, police detain seven suspects

The Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) and police jointly carried out search and combing operation at Kabli Bazaar in Nazimabad.

Heavy contingents of police and Rangers took part in the operation. The operation was led by SP Liaquatabad in which all SHOs of Liaquatabad division also took part.

“Seven suspects have been arrested and two of them had previous criminal record,” said a police spokesperson.

Woman commits suicide

A 26-year-old married woman committed suicide in Korangi on Thursday.

Zaman Town police said that Syeda Zain Fatima ended her life by hanging herself inside her home in Korangi-3 near Bhains Colony Gali.

The body was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre to fulfil medico-legal formalities.

Area SHO Gulzar Tunio said that apparently it was a suicide but the police were waiting for a final medical report.

He said the couple had married seven to eight years ago, but they had no child and that was stated to be a source of constant bickering in the family.
