PML-N MPA joins PTI

MUZAFFARGARH: The sole provincial assembly member of PML-N in the district – Sardar Azhar Khan Chandia – has announced joining the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf.

During a corner meeting at Chowk Sarwar Shaheed here on Saturday wherein members of both the parties were present, Chandia said he would contest the next general election from the PTI’s platform.

Sardar Azhar Khan Chandia had made it to the Punjab Assembly (PP-269) from the ticket of PML-N and after six months he joined the ‘rebel’ group, led by MPA Nishat Daha. Mr Chandia had time and again met with Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and secured some development projects.

Naeem Khan Chandia [his son] who is active on behalf of Azhar Khan, said his father joined the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and he would resign from the PML-N seat if PTI asked him to do so.

Azhar Chandia was the sole member of PML-N in Muzaffargarh while others were independents and belonged to PTI and PPP.

EXTORTION CASES: Shah Jamal and City police stations have registered cases against unidentified people for allegedly demanding Rs5 million extortion from the Saddar police DSP and the health chief executive officer through courier service.

District Police Officer Mohammad Hassan Iqbal said a team was investigating the matter.
