Murad faces Muqeet for national badminton title

LAHORE: While Murad Ali faces Muqeet Tahir in the men’s singles final while Mahoor Shahzad meets Palwasha Bashir in the women’s singles decider after winning their respective semi-finals of the All Paki­stan National Ranking Bad­m­inton Tournament at Ayub Stadium, Quetta on Saturday.

In the men’s doubles final, NBP’s Raja Mohammad Hasnain partnering Raja Zulqarnain Haider of Wapda will compete with Awais Zahid and Mohammad Ali Larosh (Wapda).

The Saima Waqas-Khizra Rasheed duo will play against the pair of Mahoor and Ghazala Siddique of Wapda in the women’s doubles final.

In the men’s singles semi-finals, Murad had a comfortable 21-16, 21-6 victory against Raja Mohammad Hasnain, Muqeet struggledbefore overcoming Raja Zulqarnain 10-21, 21-17, 21-17.

In the women’s singles semi-finals, both Mahoor and NBP’s Palwasha recorded facile victories against Amal Munib of Punjab and Ghazala Siddique, respectively.
