KHYBER: Over 300 Afghan students studying in various Pakistani educational institutions arrived through the Torkham border here on Tuesday.
Officials of the Khyber district administration received 332 Afghan students at the border, who were then sent in tight security to Peshawar, Abbotabad and Rawalpindi, where they are enrolled in different colleges and universities.
The officials said that another batch of 222 Afghan students was expected to arrive on Wednesday (today). These students would be kept at quarantine centres before being allowed to resume their studies.
Meanwhile, customs staff at Torkham recovered arms and ammunition from a vehicle bringing fruits and vegetables from Afghanistan.
Relevant officials said that the seizure was made at the import terminal. However, the driver of the vehicle managed to flee from the scene.
