LAHORE: Seventeen dengue patients were reported across the province during the last 24 hours, including 10 patients from Lahore.

Four patients were reported from Rawalpindi and one patient each from Multan, Vehari and Muzaffargarh, according to a handout by the health department issued on Tuesday.

Out of the total 605 confirmed cases of dengue reported so far in the province, 497 patients are from Lahore. At present, 31 patients are admitted to hospitals in Punjab, out of which 19 are hospitalised in Lahore. Eight dengue patients are getting treatment at the Holy Family Hospital Rawalpindi and two patients each are admitted to the Benazir Bhutto Hospital Rawalpindi, District Headquarters Hospital Rawalpindi and the Nishtar Hospital, Multan.

In the last 24 hours, 366,785 indoor and 78,252 outdoor locations were checked in the province while larvae were destroyed at 828 locations. In the provincial metropolis, 52,880 indoor and 7,808 outdoor locations were checked for dengue larvae and 569 positive containers were destroyed.

Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Secretary Imran Sikandar Baloch directed the department to intensify the anti-dengue drive across Punjab. He said the citizens should be more responsible in preventing dengue during the monsoon and they should not let rainwater accumulate in residential areas.
