KARACHI, Nov 8: Multan sprang a surprise on Tuesday when they toppled pool leaders Karachi Urban by seven wickets in the National Inter-region Under-19 cricket championship one-day tournament.
Previously winless in two outings, Multan coasted to victory with 15 deliveries to spare in the Pool ‘A’ fixture at the PCB Regional Academy Ground.
Their hero was Najam Abbas, who struck eight boundaries in an unbeaten 71 off 103 balls as Multan overhauled Karachi Urban’s 191 in 42.3 overs.
Meanwhile, Karachi Harbour remain the only side in the competition to maintain their unbeaten record with a fourth successive victory at the KCCA Stadium. Their hapless opponents Quetta suffered fourth straight loss as the hosts won the Pool ‘B’ encounter by six wickets.
Faraz Feroze (51 not out) was the mainstay of Karachi Harbour’s innings.
Raza Rahman, a left-arm paceman, grabbed six for 26 as Lahore Shalimar thrashed Rawalpindi by 100 wickets in a Pool ‘A’ match at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Hyderabad notched up a four-wicket win against Abbottabad in Pool ‘B’.

Our Sports Correspondent adds from Lahore: Opener Abid Ali made 83 to steer Lahore Ravi to a close two-wicket win over Islamabad in the Pool ‘B’ tie at the Lahore Country Club in Muridke.
Abid hit 12 boundaries in his 110-ball knock, as Lahore Ravi achieved their target of 189 in 43.2 overs.
Earlier, Kamran Hussain scored 60 and Syed Imad Wasim 51 helped Islamabad make 186.
A fine 104 by Arsalan Anwar and 86 by Usman Mushtaq propelled Sialkot to a 98-run win over Peshawar at Saga Ground in Sialkot.
Arsalan cracked 14 fours and one six while facing 97 balls while Usman’s 98-ball knock included seven boundaries and two sixes as Sialkot reached 257 in 45 overs.
