SWABI: Robbers took away Rs6 million from a bank in Chota Lahor tehsil here on Friday after holding employees at gunpoint.

When contacted, district police officer Mohammad Shoaib Khan told Dawn that Rs6 million were taken away from the bank branch by the robbers, who came in a car.

He quoted the bank manager as saying that robbers forced their way into the bank after overpowering the guards, made the entire staff hostage, collected the amount and escaped.

The police officer said the robbers also damaged the CCTV system of the bank.

The police have constituted a special team to trace the robbers and recover the looted amount.

The Chota Lahor city police station registered an FIR against the unidentified robbers.
