KARACHI: As police have made tight security arrangements for the Chehlum of Imam Husain being observed today, the Sindh home department on Monday imposed a ban on pillion riding in Karachi and other divisions of the province for Tuesday.

An official statement said the ban was imposed in the wake of reports submitted by police and Rangers, who did not rule out ‘attacks by miscreants on religious activities by various means”.

The main procession of the Chehlum would start from Nishtar Park and culminate at Hussainian Iranian Imam Bargah in Kharadar after passing through its traditional routes.

Meanwhile, all education institutions in Sindh will remain closed on Tuesday (today) on account of the Chehlum of Imam Husain. The holiday is announced as per directives of the steering committee of the education and literacy department of Sindh.
