KARACHI: Several areas of Karachi received light rain on Monday.
Despite scattered showers, the city weather remained hot and humid with temperature touching 37 degree Celsius mark. The Met office said that the humidity — the amount of moisture in the atmosphere — was recorded 75 per cent.
The Met department has forecast rain, wind/thundershowers with heavy falls in several districts, including Karachi, from Tuesday (today) to Oct 2 due to strong monsoon currents penetrating Sindh.
The maximum rainfall was recorded in Quaidabad (6mm), Gulshan-i-Maymar (4.3mm), Saadi Town (4.2mm), North Karachi (3.2mm), DHA Phase II (2.8mm), PAF Faisal Base and University Road (2mm each), Keamari (1.5mm), Jinnah Terminal (1.2mm) and old airport area (0.6mm) while Nazimbad and Gulshan-i-Hadeed reported ‘traces’.
According to Met office advisory, the districts likely to receive rains include Mirpurkhas, Tharparkar, Umerkot, Sanghar, Thatta, Badin, Karachi, Hyderabad, Tando Allayar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Matiari, Shaheed Benazirabad and Dadu.
“Rain, wind/thundershower is also expected at scattered places in Sukkur, Larkana and Jacobabad from today till Thursday,” it said.
