KHYBER: With the district administration still groping in the dark to control the dengue virus in different parts of Khyber, the virus has now penetrated into Landi Kotal sub-jail after taking the entire tehsil into a storm.

Sources said that the superintendent of Landi Kotal sub-jail, Abid, and one of his subordinate Adil were found infected with the virus while the health officials were reluctant to share information about the other inmates of the prison.

The health authorities and tehsil municipal administration are yet to fumigate the sub-jail premises while at least four policemen were earlier infected with dengue virus in Landi Kotal police station, situated in close proximity with the sub-jail.

Local residents said that dengue virus was fast spreading in different localities of Khyber while the district administration and health authorities were yet to devise an effective strategy to contain it.
