Faisal rescues Sialkot

LAHORE, Nov 9: Opener Faisal Naved struck 76 to give Sialkot’s first innings total respectability against defending champions Peshawar in the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Gold League match at the Jinnah Stadium in Sialkot on Wednesday.

Faisal withstood onslaught from Test fast bowlers Umar Gul and Fazle Akbar to help Sialkot see off the day at 249 for seven in their first innings.

Test reject Imran Nazir, the Sialkot skipper, made 33 in the opening stand of 55 with Faisal, who laced his knock with eight boundaries.

Umar Gul finished with four for 79 while Fazle claimed two for 61.
