MUZAFFARGARH: A man killed his five-year-old nephew and threw the body in the river Indus over ancestral property dispute with his brother at Kot Addu.

Faizan Ahmad went missing from his house at Kot Addu’s ward No 8 on Sept 29 last and his father informed police about kidnap. Police started investigation and found the body of the child in the river on Friday.

Police later arrested suspect Nadir who during the course of investigation confessed to killing his nephew over property dispute with his father. Police registered a case against Nadir under section 302 of PPC.

IG’s VISIT: Punjab IG Rao Sardar Ali during his first visit to Dera Ghazi Khan division on Thursday pledged to solve the problems of the families of martyrs.

Speaking to the families of the martyrs, he lauded the officials who laid down their lives in the line of duty.

“We have made our tomorrow secure by sacrificing today. Protecting the rights of their (martyrs’) families is our responsibility,” he said.

He said special counters had been set up for the families of the martyrs to solve their problems.

The IG appreciated the RPO and DPO Umer Saeed for taking action against Ladi and other gangs. He also gave commendation certificates to SHO Malik Khurram Riaz Khar and others for good performance.
