MALAKAND: The Malakand district bar on Saturday boycotted the court proceedings to protest the murder of a local woman lawyer and her father.

Ms Sheeba Gul along with her father, Karim Bakhsh, was shot dead earlier this week.

The district bar held a meeting presided over by its president Aftab Alam Advocate, and demanded of the deputy commissioner Malakand to ensure that the killers were awarded exemplary punishment for the heinous crime.

Separately, a statement issued by the DC Malakand said that the Malakand Levies swiftly responded to the incident and arrested the murderer.

The statement said accused, Inamullah had confessed committing the double murder.

The Malakand Levies also recovered the weapon used in the crime and empty shells, which were sent for forensic examination.

During interrogation, the culprit disclosed that he committed the double murder to take revenge for his father’s murder perpetrated by Karim Bukhsh.

He said a court had acquitted Mr Bukhsh during the case trial, which had left him with no option but to go for the revenge killing.

The statement said that an FIR had been lodged under Section 302 of Pakistan Penal Code.

The accused was presented before a magistrate, who remanded him for three days.

Commandant Malakand Levies Altaf Ahmed Sheikh visited the family of the deceased and offered condolences.

He said the perpetrator of the crime would be taken to justice. “I appreciate the Levies Force personnel for arresting the culprit in less than an hour after the crime was committed.”
