ISLAMABAD: Two patients died of Covid-19 along with 74 new cases in the capital on Saturday.

Moreover, four people also succumbed to the virus in the district of Rawalpindi.

Officials of the capital administration said both the patients who passed away were women and in the age group of 50-59.

During the last 24 hours, 4,153 tests were conducted in the capital and 46 males and 28 females tested positive.

They said 17 cases were reported in the age group of 30-39, followed by 14 each in 20-29 and 50-59, eight in 0-9, seven each in 10-19 and 60-69, six in 40-49, and one in 70-79.

Likewise, five cases were reported from G-7, four from E-11, three from F-11, two each from Loi Bher, I-8, G-10, Rawat, G-9, I-10, F-6, G-5, Koral, Kurri and one each from Bhara Kahu, Tarlai, G-11, G-6, Alipur, Chak Shahzad, Khanna, Korl, G-15, Rawal Town, and Kirpa.

The positivity rate in the district is increasing again as it jumped from 2.9pc to 3.56pc in the last 24 hours. Moreover, four people also succumbed to the virus.

Officials said 1,573 samples were collected in last 24 hours and 56 of them tested positive. In the last 24 hours, 51 patients were discharged from hospitals.

Manzoor Hussain, 81, a resident of Jatlia, was brought to Fauji Foundation Hospital on Sept 24 where he died.

Rafia Bibi, 55, a resident of Chakri Road, arrived at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) on October 1 and died there on Saturday.

Mohammad Afzal, 70, a resident of Wah Cantonment, was brought to Holy Family Hospital on October 1 where he also died.

Matloob Ahmed, 68, a resident of Taxila, passed away at Shifa International Hospital where he was admitted on October 1.

In Rawalpindi district, there are 613 active patients - 97 in hospitals and 516 home isolated.

Eight cases each were reported from the cantonment and city areas, 12 from Potohar Town, three from Gujar Khan, six from Taxila, 11 from Kahuta, two from Murree, one patient each from Islamabad, AJK, Bhakkar, Mianwali, KP and Chakwal.

As many as four patients were admitted in Holy Family Hospital, 51 in Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH), 27 in Rawalpindi Institute of Urology (RIU), 14 in Fauji Foundation Hospital (FFH) and one patient in Bilal Hospital.

There are four patients on ventilators, 27 are on oxygen and 66 are stable.
