ISLAMABAD: While 74 people were found infected with Covid-19 in Islamabad on Sunday, the positivity rate remained at 2.11pc.

On the other hand, health authorities claimed that all possible steps were being taken to control dengue.

District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Zaeem Zia said 3,510 samples were collected on Saturday of which 74 were found positive for Covid-19 on Sunday.

About the dengue cases, he said the DHO office had increased efforts to control the disease.

“We are hopeful that the cases will reduce by the end of the current month as dengue mosquito cannot survive during cold weather. Currently, we are treating stagnant water with organophosphate,” he said.

An official of the Ministry of National Health Services said most of the cases were being reported from rural areas.

“Fogging is being done at dawn and dusk in the weak areas and cases are being responded by the teams,” he said.
