RAWALPINDI: Two days after a police official was martyred during a raid on a drug dealers’ den, two police officials were rounded up by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) in Rawalpindi on Sunday after a significant quantity of drugs was recovered from them.

Ali Raza, a constable at Civil Lines police station, was charge-sheeted as he was found absent from duty on Sunday.

He further said the other constable, Javaid Iqbal, was attending a training programme at Rawat these days.

The spokesman said a letter was written to the authorities concerned for strict action against constable Javaid.

“Since policemen are sacrificing their lives during fights against drug dealers, the involvement of police in drug trafficking is shameful and intolerable,” he said.

A police official was martyred while an alleged drug dealer killed during a shootout between a raiding party and traffickers near Mareer Hassan, opposite to the Punjab House, on Friday night. A preliminary report said the shootout took place after a police party conducted a raid to arrest drug dealers. During an exchange of gunfire, ASI Aslam Farooqi, 28, was martyred while Majid, an alleged drug dealer, died of his injuries.
