SWABI: People of Marghuz area here on Monday staged a protest demonstration against high inflation and unemployment.
The call for the protest was given by the local chapters of Awami National Party and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.
Workers of the two opposition parties were holding placards and banners inscribed slogans against the high prices of commodities, increasing corrupt practices and unemployment in the country.
The protesters passed through different markets on the Topi-Zaida Road. They were holding black flags and chanting slogans against the government.
Addressing the protesters, the ANP and PML-N leaders said prices of commodities had been increasing almost on daily basis, but the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leaders repeatedly claimed the inflation had been brought under control.
Through a unanimously adopted resolution, the political activists demanded of the PTI government to step down.
Student commits suicide: A final year student of the Khyber Medical College, Peshawar, committed suicide here on Monday, the police said.
The student, Mohammad Obaidullah, shot himself in the head inside his house. Members of his family said as they heard the gunshots they rushed to his room and found him lying in a pool of blood.
SHO Kalu Khan police station Fayyaz Khan told mediapersons that cause of the suicide was mental stress. The body was shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Razaar, for autopsy.
