QUETTA: The Balochistan government has asked its departments to discontinue the use of the term “competent authority” following the directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan conveyed through an official communication.

The Services and General Administration Department has directed all departments that the prime minister’s orders be communicated to all autonomous bodies, attached departments and subordinate officers.

The Cabinet Secretariat, Cabinet Division, Islamabad, in a circular has conveyed the directives of the prime minister in a communication which reads: “The words ‘competent authority’ frequently used in official notifications and correspondence should be discontinued with immediate effect. Use of the term ‘competent authority’ creates ambiguity and uncertainty. The authority passing the order should be clearly specified in notifications/orders/correspondence where such a reference is required.”
