KARACHI: The residents of illegally-constructed Nasla Tower have been ordered by the district administration to vacate the 15-storey building by Oct 27 or face coercive action by the authorities.
The assistant commissioner of Ferozabad had served the residents of Nasla Tower with an eviction notice that also appeared in newspapers, warning that necessary proceedings under Section 3 (i) of the Sindh Public Property (Removal of Encroachment) Act, 2010 or “other coercive action” might by initiated against the occupants in case they failed to vacate the building within 15 days.
The Supreme Court had on Sept 22 dismissed a review petition against its earlier order to demolish the 15-storey building.
The court had also asked the Karachi commissioner to submit a compliance report and ensure the building was vacated.
The apex court also directed the builders of the Nasla Tower to refund the amount to the registered buyers of the residential and commercial units within three months.
On June 16, a three-judge SC bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Gulzar Ahmed had ordered the demolition of the high-rise building for encroaching on the land meant for a service road.
