NAROWAL: The Sialkot district police officer (DPO) has suspended a sub-inspector (SI) and an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) from service for misbehaving with the citizens and misuse of power.

DPO Atif Nazir suspended Sub-Inspector Muhammad Altaf of the Phuklian Police Station from service for supporting an accused in a child abuse case and pressuring the complainant to reconcile with the accused. He also suspended ASI Muhammad Iftikhar posted at the Police Lines Sialkot over a video that had gone viral on social media. The video showed the ASI abusing some people.

The DPO issued warning to the police officers that injustice and inappropriate treatment of the citizens would not be tolerated by the department.

PROTEST: The PPP workers held a protest on the Katcheri Road against the PTI government over rising inflation in the country.

In the protest organised by the PPP District Narowal, the participants were carrying placards and flexes, inscribed with anti-government slogans.

Addressing the protesters, PPP District President Syed Hasnain Shah said the government had failed to control inflation. He said the huge loans taken by the current government from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) were being repaid by putting extra burden on the people.
