DACCA: A good number of candidates are expected to be declared elected uncontested to the National Assembly at the end of scrutiny on Oct 22. According to reports … eleven candidates are likely to return uncontested if their nomination papers are found valid.
Out of 78 seats where by-elections were held, reports of 47 constituencies were available till the writing of this report while reports from the remaining constituencies were still awaited. Today [Oct 20] was the date for contesting by-elections. One hundred [and] fifteen candidates belonging to PDP, Jamaat-i-Islami, three factions of Muslim League, Nezam-e-Islam and [PPP] filed nomination papers.
