LAHORE: Javeria Khan will lead Pakistan women against their West Indies counterpart in the upcoming three-match One-day International series at the National Stadium in Karachi.
The visitors arrive in Karachi on Nov 1 for the fixtures on Nov 8, 11 and 14, and after the series, both teams will go to Zimbabwe to play the qualifying round of the ICC Women’s World Cup, which takes place from Nov 21 to Dec 5. The main round is being held in New Zealand next year.
It may be mentioned here that the men’s West Indies team is also scheduled to tour Pakistan in December to play three ODIs and as many T20Is, and the PCB believes that tour will help a lot to reopen the gate of international cricket in Pakistan, cancellation of recent tours by England and New Zealand to the country.
Speaking on the women’s series, PCB chairman Ramiz Raja said: “We are delighted to announce the West Indies women’s tour to Pakistan in November. This will be a great series for the promotion, publicity and growth of women’s cricket in Pakistan, besides also providing both sides with an excellent opportunity to prepare for the World Cup qualifier.”
Meanwhile, The national side’s camp for the series will begin after Saturday and will run Until Nov 5 at the Hanif Mohammad High Centre.
