GUJRAT: A widowed mother of three children was injured in an acid attack by an assailant at Kacha Khu area of Kunjah city.

Reports said Afshan Mushtaq, 35, whose husband had died some time ago, was at her house when an unidentified man came there and threw acid on her face. The suspect fled within no time.

Police said the woman was shifted to the Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital’s burn unit where doctors claimed that she was out of danger as her eyes remained safe.

The woman told police that she had a plan to get married again and was searching for a suitable option.

The Kunjah police have registered a case against the suspect under sections 324 and 336B of Pakistan Penal Code.

ARRESTED: Police arrested the man who killed a 65-year-old woman at Samman Pindi village.

DPO Umar Salamat told reporters Iffat Bibi was found murdered at her house where she would live alone on Sept 28 last. He said he constituted a team under Saddar DSP Hafiz Imtiaz and Kunjah SHO Furqan Shahzad Cheema to trace the killer. The team arrested goldsmith Ihsan who confessed to killing the woman to steal her valuables.
