LAHORE: Six people suffered bullet injuries when two groups clashed over land in Shadbagh on Sunday.

Police said Rana and Gujjar groups had a rivalry and on Sunday, some people from the Gujjar group came to settle the dispute with Rana group.

Both parties exchanged words and soon the Gujjar group opened fire at the rivals. Five persons of Rana group and a passerby suffered bullet injuries.

The injured were taken to nearby hospital where two of them were said to be critical.Police arrested three suspects from the Gujjar groups and registered a case.

Meanwhile, a man was injured by a stray kite string in Islampura on Sunday.

Police said Waqar, 23, was riding a motorcycle when a stray kite string entangled in his neck.

The victim suffered injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital where he was said to be discharged after treatment.Kite flying was banned in Punjab for several years owing to casualties. Any violation is punishable with imprisonment and fine or both under the law. However, youngsters resort to flying kites in some areas of the city in violation of the ban.

A Lahore police spokesperson claimed that around 10,000 cases under kite flying act were registered against the suspects during the current year.
