Rangers take command of security arrangements in Punjab

GUJRANWALA/GUJRAT: The Kamoki police registered a case against 2000 TLP activists on charges of attacking police and damaging nine police vans and five motorcycles and abducting SHO Khurram Gill, SHO Riaz Gondal and ASI Shehbaz.

All bridges over Chenab and Jhelum have been blocked by parking over 100 containers. Rangers have taken over the command of all the security arrangements where heavy contingents of police belonging to entire Gujranwala region are already deployed for the last many days.

Officials privy to the security arrangements said that the rangers would act as a first tier force at Chenab toll plazas and police would assist.

Punjab IGP Rao Sardar and RPO Abdul Kareem also visited Gujrat and inspected the arrangements in Wazirabad and Gujrat. The local administration has already sealed the entry and exit points of Gujrat district whereas both the bridges at Jhelum river between Sara-i-- Alamgir town of Gujrat and Jhelum city had been blocked.

The internet services remained suspended in Gujrat district for the last many days.
