ISLAMABAD: Though mercury has dropped to 13°C, there is no letup in arrival of dengue patients as the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Friday reported 120 fresh cases.

District Health Officer Islamabad Dr Zaeem Zia said 58 cases — 32 from rural areas and 26 from urban areas — were reported during the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 3,385.

He said 25 patients were admitted to Pims, eight to Holy Family Hospital, seven to Federal Capital Hospial, four to Benazir Bhutto Hosital and 14 to different private hospitals.

The DHO said eight cases were reported from Tarali, six from Koral, five each from Tarnol and Alipur, three from Sohan, two from Bhara Kahu, one each from Sihala, Jhangi Syedan and Chirrah.

During the last 24 hours, the health authorities carried out indoor residual spray in 517 houses and 105 fogging activities in different areas of capital, he said, adding separate teams of District Health Office Islamabad also eliminated 964 potential breeding sites of larva.

Rawalpindi

As many as 62 dengue patients were brought to three government run hospitals on Friday in the garrison city.

According to data of Punjab government, 30 new patients landed in Holy Family Hospital, 18 in Benazir Bhutto Hospital and 14 in District Headquarters Hospital.

At present, 157 patients are under treatment at the allied hospitals including 83 in Holy Family Hospital, 30 in Benazir Bhutto Hospital and 44 in District Headquarters Hospital.

During the last 24 hours, 16 patients recovered. So far 2,244 patients recovered.
