TAXILA: The Wah Cantonment police claimed to have busted a six-member gang of robbers by arresting its six members, including the ringleader Gul Akbar alias Mama.

Talking to newsmen on Friday, Subdivisional Police Officer Taxila circle ASP Waqas Khan said a team of police led by station house officer Adeel Khan acting on a tip-off raided the hideout of the gang and arrested the six members of “Mama gang”. They were identified as Gul Akbar alias Mama, Tahir, Shahid, Nadeem, Faqeer and Nisar.

Mr Khan said that the ringleader was also earlier arrested for robberies in various cities including Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Peshawar.

He said police also recovered weapons utilised by the gang in the crimes. During the preliminary interrogation, he added, the suspects confessed to their involvement in robberies and snatching activities in various localities of Taxila and Wah.
