QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo has said that the provincial government needs more cooperation and financial help from the federal government for the speedy development of province.
Besides, he said, the province needed more share in the National Finance Commission Award not only on the basis of population but also on the basis of the province’s backwardness, vast area and other indicators.
The chief minister stated this at a meeting with senators and members of the National and provincial assemblies belonging to ruling Balochistan Awami Party on Monday in Islamabad while discussing issues being faced by the people of Balochistan.
It was decided in the meeting to seek more financial resources from the federal government for development of the province as limited available resources were not enough to resolve problems the masses of the province had been facing for a long time.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that exploiting and utilising natural resources for the development of Balochistan was the top priority of the government and all steps would be taken for generation of more resources at provincial and federal levels.
Mr Bizenjo said that implementation of the south Balochistan development plan had been launched as announced by the prime minister and there was need to accelerate the implementation of federal projects and timely disbursement of funds. He said that without help and cooperation of the federal government, the provincial government could not make progress. “The joint efforts of the federal and provincial governments could change the destiny of the people of Balochistan,” Mr Bizenjo said.
