PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority officials on Monday conducted major crackdowns on adulteration and use of substandard food items across the province.

During the ongoing operation, the authority sealed a chips manufacturing unit located on the Charsadda Road in Peshawar after discarding more than 4,000 kilogrammes of substandard potato chips and 20kg of toxic colours.

In Tank district, the food authority officials seized and discarded 2,000 litres of adulterated milk during inspection of milk supplying tankers on the Dera Road. They also imposed fines on the suppliers.

A team of food authority officials in Lower Dir arranged awareness campaigns for students at different schools and inspected the schools’ canteens.

The team members informed the students about the importance of hygiene around the dining places.

Meanwhile, teams of food authority inspected different bakeries, general stores on the Link Road in Bannu and issued notices to owners over unhygienic conditions.
