TOBA TEK SINGH: A couple was allegedly burnt to death at their house on Gojra Road at Jhang on Saturday afternoon.

Jhang Rescue 1122 media coordinator Eitmad Ahmad Shoaib said people informed them that a fire had broken out in a locked house and they reached there and found the charred bodies.

He said the rescue personnel also found an axe beside the bodies.

He said the bodies were shifted to the DHQ Hospital for autopsy.

The deceased were identified as Amjad Ali, 40, and his wife Asia Bibi, 30.

Satellite Town SHO Usman Khan said it was suspected that Amjad might have axed his wife and then committed suicide. He said valuables were reduced to ashes in the house fire.

FUNDS DISPUTE: The Jhang district council chairman has raised an objection to the use of development funds on the renovation of Chenab Park.

In a letter sent to the chief officer, District Council chairman Nawab Babar Khan Sial said the local councils had been restored on the Supreme Court order but its funds were going to be spent on the renovation of Chenab Park for which he had not given approval.

He directed the chief officer to not to start the scheme. Chief Officer Muhammad Akram Bharwana claimed that the renovation scheme of Chenab Park had started on the direction of Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on public demand and there was no need to get a fresh approval from the district council chairman or the house.

He said work would begin as per schedule and information had been provided to the chairman in writing.
