ISLAMABAD: Showing brilliant performance, Kazakhstan athletes clinched six gold medals to win the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Pakistan Open International Taekwondo (G-1) Championship that concluded here on Monday.

Kazakh women Aidana Yedibayeva (-57kg), Zahadyra Khairullina (-62kg), Nuray Bauyrzhanova (-49kg), Cansel Deniz (-73kg) and Aigul Yelubay (+73kg) all picked up golds.

Hosts Pakistan also got won gold medals — Haroon Khan in -58kg flyweight and Hamza Umar Saeed in +87kg heavyweight men’s contests.

Overall, the Pakistan athletes claimed two gold, eight silver and 22 bronze medals to bag second spot in the championship.

Besides Pakistan, Croatia and Egypt also won two golds each while Oman, Turkey, Afghanistan and World Team of Refugees taking a gold each.
