KARACHI: A total of 347 graduates of Habib University received degrees in a combined degree distribution ceremony for classes of 2020 and 2021.

The university had organised a ceremony for 185 students of 2020 and 162 students of 2021 sessions on campus grounds to celebrate the success of the two batches, who despite the coronavirus pandemic did not waver from their academic pursuits.

Held with strict Covid-19 standard operating procedures in place, this was the first large gathering held on the university grounds for over two years.

According to a press release, conducting the ceremony was a natural extension of HU’s proactive approach during the Covid-19 pandemic, at the start of which the University had led the way, quickly and seamlessly shifting to online teaching and learning platforms. As a result, both batches graduated on time with virtual convocation ceremonies being organised in 2020 and 2021.

Speaking at the ceremony, interim Vice President Academic Affairs Dean.

Each year the convocation marks the culmination of the academic year and is an extremely important and celebratory event at Habib for the entire Habib community.

The ceremony was presided over by HU president Wasif A. Rizvi.

He said: “Always reflect on what you were invited to cultivate within yourselves at Habib. Close your cynicism with passion. Challenge ugliness and destruction with grace and beauty. Address laziness, indifference, incompetence with rigor and excellence. And tackle exploitation and greediness with goodness, generosity and service.”
