LAHORE: The district administration has been monitoring availability of sugar and flour in the market and prices for the last two weeks in the capital city.

Punjab Minister for Industries and Commerce Mian Aslam Iqbal and Deputy Commissioner Umar Sher Chattha visited various markets of the provincial metropolis and reviewed the availability of sugar and flour. They monitored the DC counters in stores and checked prices of sugar and flour and their quality and availability. The inspection was conducted in Raiwind and Model Town areas.

Mr Iqbal inquired about the prices of sugar and flour from the shopkeepers and customers and warned the traders and store owners against profiteering. He expressed his satisfaction on availability of flour and sugar at the fixed prices – flour at Rs1,100 per 20 kg bag and sugar at Rs90 per kg.

He appreciated the efforts of the assistant commissioners on the formulation of supply chains of sugar and flour.

DENGUE: The district administration’s anti-dengue drive “Dengue Crash Programme” is under way and surveillance is being carried out at various points in the provincial metropolis for the last six days.

According to the daily dengue report, surveillance of more than 46,000 houses was done by dengue teams and spray was carried out in 1,5000 areas and fogging at 4,315 places.

Mr Chattha appealed to the citizens to adopt precautionary measures and cooperate with dengue teams.

LWMC: The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has issued 481 challans over littering and illegal dumping and seized 22 vehicles.

Two FIRs were lodged over violation of the Local Government Act for illegally collecting garbage from private societies and dumping it.

LWMC Chief Executive Officer Raffia Haider said the enforcement wing had been working round the clock against illegal dumping in the provincial capital since Nov 1. She said the enforcement team inspected 2,134 points of the city on Tuesday and fines were imposed for violation of law and 942 warning notices were also issued for minor violations.

LAND GRAB: The district administration arrested four people involved in land grabbing near Guru Mangat Road, Gulberg-II.

Model Town Assistant Commissioner Zeeshan Nadeem led the operation against encroachments.
