ISLAMABAD: Though intensity of dengue has subsided, 74 more contracted the virus in Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Tuesday.
District Health Officer (DHO) Islamabad Dr Zaeem Zia said out of the total 45 cases, 27 were reported from the urban areas and 18 from rural localities.
He said 13 of them were admitted to Pims, six to Holy Family Hospital, two to Benazir Bhutto Hospital, one was under treatment in Capital Hospital and the remaining 23 were being treated in private hospitals.
The DHO said five cases each were reported from Koral and Tarnol, followed by four from Tarlai, and one each from Sohan, Bhara Kahu, Sihala and Rawat.
The tally of dengue cases in the capital during the current season reached 4,167, the DHO said, adding that out of the total, 2,399 were reported from the rural areas and 1,768 from urban localities.
During the last 24 hours, indoor residual spray was carried out in 574 houses while separate teams of the District Health Office Islamabad also found 72 potential breeding sites of larvae in different union councils.
On the other hand,according to a district government official, 29 dengue patients landed in the garrison city’s hospitals. He said 17 patients arrived in Holy Family Hospital, five in Benazir Bhutto Hospital and seven in District Headquarters Hospital.
According to the official, 2,984 dengue patients reported in three government hospitals so far. However, at present, 89 patients are under treatment in three hospitals with 45 in Holy Family Hospital, 12 in Benazir Bhutto Hospital and 32 in District Headquarters Hospital.
