ISLAMABAD: Two patients died in Capital while 69 new dengue cases were reported in Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Wednesday.

District Health Officer Islamabad Dr Zaeem Zia said those who died were the residents of Farash Town and Ghouri Town Phase 5/A. They were admitted to Capital Hospital and Holy Family,” he added.

The DHO said this season so far 69 dengue patients died from the dengue, the DHO said, adding that 13 of them were the residents of rural areas and six of urban areas.

During the last 24 hours 32 cases were reported in capital, 19 from urban areas and 13 from rural areas, Dr Zia said, adding that seven of them were admitted to Pims, four to Holy Family and one each at Polyclinic, Capital Hospital, Benazir Bhutto Hospital, and DHQ Rawalpindi, while remaining 17 at different private hospitals. Four cases were reported from Koral, followed by two each from Tarnol, Sohan and Bhara Kahu, and one each from Tarlai, Alipur and Rawat, he added,

During the last 24 hours, Indoor Residual Spray was carried out in 574 Houses and 49 fogging activities were conducted in different areas of capital to prevent the fever spread and eliminate the potential breeding sits of larva, Dr Zia said, adding that separate teams of District Health Office Islamabad also found 390 potential breeding sites of larva at different union councils and eliminated them.

As many as 37 people in the garrison city contracted dengue virus, taking the tally to 3,066.

According to Rawalpindi Medical University, 21 new patients arrived in Holy Family Hospital, seven in Benazir Bhutto Hospital and nine in District Headquarters Hospital.

According to the official, 37 new patients arrived while six of them are in critical condition. As many as 3,066 dengue patients reported in three government hospitals so far including 1,783 patients in Holy Family Hospital, 813 in Benazir Bhutto Hospital and 470 in District Headquarters Hospital.
