LAHORE: The Cabinet Committee on Shuhada Package on Wednesday approved Shaheed Package-II for the five policemen who were killed during the recent violent protest.

The cabinet committee meeting chaired by law minister Basharat Raja at the Civil Secretariat approved the package for the families of head constable Muhammad Imtiaz and constables Jalil Haider, Muhammad Qaiser, Imtiaz Ahmed and Muhammad Waqas Azeem.

The Shaheed Package-II is offered to the policemen who are martyred by criminals. As per the package, each head constable and constable will be given a lump sum amount of Rs4 million and Rs13.5 million as a price of a house. The package also offers full pay and allowances to the heirs of the martyred, free education for children and recruitment of one family member.

The law minister directed the officials to ensure payment to the affected families of the police employees by completing all the steps within a month. He said it was a matter of great concern that the families of some martyrs could not get their dues even after six months.
