Pakistan and Australia renew their one-sided World cup rivalry tonight when both square up in the semi-final of the 2021 edition of the tournament in Dubai.

Babar Azam and Co have been exceptional all through the tournament and are the only side that has won all their matches so far.

They will put their unbeaten record on the line tonight against Australia, whom they have never beaten in a World Cup knockout round match. Starting from 1987, the two sides have clashed four times in World Cup elimination matches, with the Aussies triumphing each time.

In the 1987 semi-final, Australia shocked Imran Khan-led Pakistan on their own turf in Lahore courtesy Craig McDermott aka Billy the Kid's five-for; in the 1999 final, the Green Shirts melted under Wasim Akram's leadership; in 2010 semi-final, Pakistan had the match in control only to see Mike Hussey somehow manufacture an Aussie win; and in 2015 quarter-final, Pakistan couldn't capitalise on a fierce Wahab Riaz spell courtesy a dropped catch by Rahat Ali.
