ISLAMABAD: As many as 11 teams including diplomats of more than 27 nationalities will participate in the four-month long Royal Business Solutions (RBS) Diplomatic Football League (DFL).

The teams will play football every Saturday. The opening and trophy unveiling ceremony was held on Friday.

The event was attended by ambassadors and diplomats along with other guests. The previous diplomatic league, Gerry’s, was won by the Saudi embassy team after beating the team from the Brazilian embassy.

Participating teams include Saudi United, Thailand A, Thailand B, Golden Stars, Kazakhstan Team, Japan Team, RBS Diplomatic Team, Gerry’s Team, Europe Team, Indonesian Team and the Malaysian Team.

The league is being organised by Mubasher Sanjrani, former international football player of Pakistan.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of RBS Adeel Riaz and general manager of Marriott Hotel David Richard and head of customer care at Gerry’s Fahad Jahangir were present on this occasion. During the event, uniforms were presented to participants along with their logos and in the end, the trophy was revealed. The event was appreciated by the diplomatic community and guests.

The league has been sponsored by RBS powered by Gerrys along with Marriott Hotel, Comet Sports, Joshila and Alamco Duty free.
