PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Friday condemned the brutal murder of social worker, Mohammad Zada Agrawal, and called for enacting legislation for punishing the people involved in narcotics smuggling.

While speaking at a point of order in the assembly, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MPA Pir Masoom Shah said that social worker Mohammad Zada Agrawal was killed on Nov 8 in Dargai area of Malakand for raising voice against the drug mafia, kidnappers and other social evils prevailing in the society. He said that the PTI government had taken timely action to transfer the deputy commissioner, Malakand, and the assistant commissioner, Dargai, and had also arrested the three suspected killers.

Mr Masoom Shah paid tributes to Mohammad Zada for his courage and principled stance against corrupt practices in the society.

He demanded of the provincial assembly to enact legislation for imposing heavy penalties and awarding life imprisonment to drug smugglers and peddlers.

Later, Deputy Speaker Mahmood Jan, who was chairing the session, gave the ruling that the government should initiate legislation process against the drug mafia to purge the society of the menace of narcotics.

Members of the provincial assembly also prayed for the departed soul and expressed condolences with the victim’s family.
